I know some folks will want this, but I feel like we are battling against Apple itself. Use_thin_fonts seems to be a headache, firstly it is macOS only so probably should be named mac_use_thin_fonts, but it only works for High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina (nothing prior and currently nothing latter). So I built myself a thinner font which totally solved this issue.Īlacritty does not provide box drawing because simplicity and maintainability are desired goals. Fonts like Iosevka provide build script, hence font weight is adjustable for this particular font. But it is not how Apple wants folks to do things (me thinks).Īfter battling this issue for two weeks, which involved me going bonkers thinking something was working when it actually wasn't, I firmly believe the best solution is to use a thinner font. Ive put it in my home folder and in /.config/alacritty/ I have even tried putting it in just /.config/ but nothing works. The iTerm2 author stumbled on something, tried it and liked the look (which is fine). I cannot get alacritty to read the alacritty.yml file no matter where I put it. This causes text to render just a little lighter, which looks nicer. fb13a43 on 18 commits README.md initial commit 6 years ago alacritty.yml update config last year README.md alacritty settings Settings for Alacritty, a GPU-accelerated terminal emulator To install, clone the repository to /.config/alacritty. alacritty -o '100' But some settings, like the startup mode, do work. config configuration mako sway alacritty configuration. Note that I have not set these settings in alacritty.yml. A sway configuration file is a list of sway commands that are executed by sway on startup. It always opens at the same size (100x35). Annoyingly, setting the window size does not work. This seems to be available at least on 10.8 and later. Im trying to use Alacritty with some custom startup overrides.
